In yesterday’s interview, topherchris tried to deflect our question about the homoerotic subtext on IED, and suggested that this was just projection on the part of some listeners, particularly British men. For the record, many people have noted this theme running through IED. Many, indeed, who had never previously considered themselves gay, have noted the double meaning in some of the banter between Casey and Chris, and have found themselves wondering whether this points to some sort of simmering sexual tension in the studio. Consider: two young men, finding themselves behind closed doors on a sweltering summer’s day in a soundproofed studio where noone can hear them. After all it would be the most natural thing in the world, in that sultry Florida heat, to take one’s shirt off. Imagine the claustrophobic tension that would build in that environment - one mistaken glance, one accidental brush of one hand against another, one innocent remark that could mean…well, anything.
What?
